Happy St. Patty’s day everyone! In honor of this day I thought I would post something green.
This commission was made with the specific request to pay homage to the Joe Jusko style of art. I have always loved his work and was excited to see if I could do it. I think this piece is successful as it leans toward that style, yet not completely, which allows it to really stand on its own.
LAS VEGAS — In a transaction that will forever change the mixed martial arts world, Zuffa, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has purchased its top competitor, Strikeforce.
UFC president Dana White spoke to MMA Fighting exclusively about why the historic purchase happened, the terms of the deal, what this means for the Strikeforce brand and fighters and much more.
You have to ask yourself, what would a near seven foot tall war goddess that was originally carved out of clay and brought to life blessed with the power six Olympian deities actually look like?
Wonder Woman is an Amazon warrior princess and one of the most powerful characters in the DC Universe. Wonder Woman can lift tanks over her head so I imagine she would look pretty intimidating but still maintain a level of natural beauty within her muscularity and prowess. Truth is she could kick your ass and so I feel she should look like she could kick your ass.
I really enjoyed doing this piece. It was a lot of fun.
The highest graded copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 (the first appearance of Spider-Man by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee) has sold in a private transaction for $1.1 million yesterday afternoon. The CGC comic was graded at a 9.6 and has thus far set a new record for the highest price paid for a Silver Age comic book to date. It just goes to show you that although a lot of people feel that the current comic industry is suffering from digital woes, there is currently a lot of activity in the CGC market. Especially with all these new Marvel movies coming out. The silverage (1956 to 1970′s) books are booming with interest, as prices keep rising.
Note: The previous best sale for a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 was for $227,000 in 2007 for a 9.4 copy from the famous White Mountain collection.
The broker for the sale is comicconnect.com, who also sold an Action Comics #1 for 1.5 million last year. (See: Superman is on top again)
Do you have comics that you want to get graded? Elfsar Collection ltd. is still the primary CGC representative here in Vancouver. Click here for more info.
Alright, many of you know that Elfsar is out of the retail game. We know a lot of you have been anxiously waiting for our new website launch (due to the emails) and we are doing everything possible to get this moving along. All good things come to those who wait. I promise.
But in the meantime, that does not stop us from getting involved with our community and promoting things we care about. Elfsar became known for throwing the best Free Comic Book Day bashes ever. We will again be working with the Scotiabank Theatre (900 Burrard St) to help promote FCBD and some upcoming feature films. Two in particular spring to mind. THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA.
First up, is THOR. Both Elfsar and the Scotiabank Theatre are looking for anyone who thinks they have (or can make) a kick-ass THOR cosplay outfit and would be willing to ‘assemble’ and don the costume before the advance screening of the film. What do you get for your efforts? How about some free swag from Elfsar on top of a double pass to see the advance screening of THOR with preferred seating? Tickets will be extremely limited for this showing and think about how stoked you will be with the possibility of seeing it first! The Scotabank Theatre has also informed me that they might be getting some free swag involving the film (to early to say) and of course you would get hooked up with that too.
We are also putting out an early casting call for a Captain America,
