The mystery is over. Since its ambiguous solicitation, retailers and fans alike have been talking about Reborn #1, wondering what writer Ed Brubaker and artist Bryan Hitch had in store. Today, the world found out, as the New York Daily News reported that Marvel Comics will bring Steve Rogers back from the grave in what we can now call Captain America Reborn #1, expected to arrive in comic shops on WednesdayJuly 1st
Note that, as previously announced in Diamond Daily, the issue’s FOC date has been moved from Thursday, June 11 to tomorrow, June 16, giving you time to adjust your orders in response of this tremendous news, which is already spreading like wildfire.
CNN and MTV will both cover the hero’s return, IGN.com has already spotlighted the announcement, and more reactionary pieces can be expected in the days to come.
Brubaker, Hitch, and Editor Tom Brevoort have commented on the upcoming five-part mini-series in a Marvel.com follow-up article, and a Reborn trailer has also been produced, which you can find at PREVIEWSworld.com
In addition to making this announcement, Marvel has also revealed three covers for the 40-page first issue.
First, an Alex Ross cover will ship in a 50/50 ratio with a Hitch cover. Also revealed was the John Cassaday Variant, which retailers may only order onlyone copy of for every 25 copies of the regular Captain America Reborn #1. This variant is scheduled to arrive with the regular editions on July 1.
Finally, Marvel has unveiled the Joe Quesada Variant Cover which is scheduled to arrive in stores beginning July 22. Retailers may order two copies of the Quesada variant for every 25 copies of the regular Captain America Reborn #1 ordered. Captain America Reborn #1 will also have a Sketch Variant Cover by John Cassaday that will only be available for every 70 copies orderd of the regular editions.
